UNCERTAINTY:How can a diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) be made easier to obtain? (JLA PSP Priority 1)
Overall ranking 1
JLA question ID 0118/1
Explanatory note Obstructive Sleep Apnea is often under-diagnosed, in part because access to facility-based tests like polysomnography can be limited while the demand for testing often exceeds capacity, resulting in long wait-times. Inadequate public funding for diagnostic services has resulted in a strong reliance on private services in some jurisdictions. Delays in diagnosis may particularly affect people who live in rural or remote areas.
