Female Fertility Preservation

About this Priority Setting Partnership

Fertility preservation is the preservation of the reproductive potential of individuals so that they can have children at a future time of their choosing. Women or young girls may choose to preserve their fertility due to cancer treatment (chemotherapy / radiotherapy) or other medical conditions (including gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis) that affect their ovarian function, or increasingly for social reasons (career aspirations, lack of suitable long-term partner, not ready etc). 

The Female Fertility Preservation PSP, also known as the PRESERVE PSP, launched in 2024. The PSP will work with people with lived experience and health care professionals to identify uncertainties about fertility preservation options for individuals assigned female at birth.
