There have now been over 100 completed James Lind Alliance (JLA) Priority Setting Partnerships (PSPs) and a huge amount of information is available from them, including Top 10 lists of priorities, longer lists of priorities, details of which type of people each PSP heard from, and examples of original questions submitted by patients, carers and health and care professionals.

A project is now underway to map out the varying information available from JLA PSPs and identify common themes which cut across PSPs, as well as mapping Top 10s by HRCS Health Category and Research Activity. The PSPs being reviewed are those which completed between 2016 and 2020.

Findings will be published and made freely available for researchers, funders and other interested parties to use.

Joanna Crocker, Project Lead at the University of Oxford said “We want to shed light on the wealth of information generated by PSPs and elicit overarching themes of importance to patients, carers and people with lived experience as well as professionals, across many different areas of health and care. We hope the findings will inspire further work and help guide future decisions about what should be researched.”

Results are likely to be available for researchers, funders and other interested parties to use and develop in early 2022.

The project is funded by the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre and you can read more about it here https://www.phc.ox.ac.uk/research/groups-and-centres/interdisciplinary-research-in-health-sciences/prioritising-health-research.
